The History of Afro-Venezuelan Slaves: Rescuing the Colonial Archive

The Venezuela History Network has secured funding for its first project through an alliance with the Academia Nacional de la Historia and the Gerda Henkel Foundation. The Venezuela History Network created a pilot project to digitize the judicial section of the Afro-Venezuelan slaves collection held by the Academia Nacional de la Historia in Caracas. Submitted for consideration to the Gerda Henkel Foundation from Germany, the project was approved in spring of 2021 and is scheduled to begin at the end of the year.
